What would your team do with more time?

By SPN

It's a question worth asking in any vision practice: how much of your team's day is actually spent on patient care, and how much is spent on everything else? For many practices, the honest answer can be uncomfortable...

Inventory counts, prior authorization checks, end-of-month reconciliation, billing discrepancies that surface weeks after the fact — these are the tasks that quietly consume clinical and administrative time in ways that rarely show up on any dashboard. Nobody flags them as a crisis, they're just the cost of running a practice.

The problem is that this cost adds up. A nurse who spends twenty minutes logging an injection is a nurse who isn't with a patient. An administrator buried in spreadsheets at month-end isn't working on the things that move the practice forward. Staff adapt to these pressures so gradually that the drain only becomes visible in hindsight, usually once the practice has put a better solution in place.

Many vision practices have already moved on from clipboards and spreadsheets, but having the right tools and getting the most out of them are two different things! The real question is whether drug tracking, billing reconciliation, and prior authorization management are genuinely connected — or siloed, each one creating its own blind spots. Successfully close those gaps, and billing discrepancies get flagged before they become denials, and month-end stops feeling like damage control.

PODIS® Plus is built specifically for this. It's an integrated inventory and billing management solution designed for retina and ophthalmology, connecting your PM, EHR, and inventory management systems so that errors and gaps get found in minutes, not months. One practice CEO described the effect simply: "Installing PODIS Plus has led to a more efficient use of work hours, freeing up time for other activities — like patient engagement, or strategic planning or budgeting".

It's worth asking what your team would do with that time.
