Use Your Collective Voice


Community-based practices need to reassure patients that now is the time to prioritize their health and their local providers are ready to care for them in a safe, protective environment. 

How can one practice get this message out?

Use your collective voice.  Rally other physicians and practices in your referral network to communicate to patients in your local area.  If you create a plan as trusted partners, you can seize the opportunity to help educate and share information.  As a collective group, you may even be able to pool resources to purchase advertising in forms that appeal to your local community.

Local news stations are actively looking for current information around the COVID-19 pandemic – how you keep yourselves safe, addressing truths vs. myths, and data from organizations like the CDC to back up your information.  As you approach the stations, tell them the importance of patients maintaining or addressing their health issues and community practices are ready to keep patients safe while seeing their providers.

Key points to consider when considering resuming health care include:

  • Community practices are working hard to implement new procedures and protocols to ensure our patients’ safety. It is about a healthier now.
  • Patients should not be distant from their healthcare. The risk of not resuming regular healthcare activities far outweighs the risk of coronavirus infections in the community-based practice.

Your patients are also looking for direct advice on resuming care.  Join the conversation on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.  Specialty Physician Services has created posts for practices to share on their own social media platforms, but it is also important to supplement with information specific to your practice.  Understand that not every patient (or potential patient) is on social media, so consider using email or telephone calls to get your messages out.
